Written contribution for the call for input to the report on racism and sports

The Fide Research, Monitoring and Reporting (FAIR) Association, established in 2024 in Ankara, Türkiye, is an independent human rights organisation committed to advancing universal human rights and freedoms. FAIR focuses on rigorous documentation, evidence-based reporting and strategic advocacy. It adopts a rights-based, inclusive and gender-sensitive approach in all activities. FAIR’s mission is to strengthen civic space in Türkiye by highlighting and countering systemic violations.
This submission is prepared in response to the call for input issued by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, in preparation for the report to be presented at the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council. It aims to examine the manifestations of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance in the field of sports in Türkiye. Particular attention is given to intersectional forms of discrimination, especially those based on gender and sexual orientation. The submission draws on FAIR’s monitoring work and provides an overview of key trends, alongside relevant assessments and recommendations in line with the thematic scope of the call.
